A fatal accident occurred at night in the Polevsky District in which a pedestrian was killed.
The incident took place on November 16 at around 00:02 on the Polevsky–Mramorskoye road. According to preliminary information, a 45-year-old Kia Sportage driver, a local resident, struck a man who was in the middle of the roadway in the vehicle’s path. According to the driver, he noticed the person suddenly — at the moment he switched the headlights from low beam to high beam.
The pedestrian died at the scene from his injuries before the ambulance arrived. He was wearing dark clothing without reflective elements. The identity of the deceased is currently being established.
Traffic police officers found that the driver has 18 years of driving experience and has previously been subjected to administrative penalties 50 times for traffic violations. An examination showed that he was sober behind the wheel.
An investigation into the crash has been launched, during which all the circumstances of the incident and the reasons why the pedestrian was on the road will be established.
