A freight train caught fire on the border of Sverdlovsk Oblast and Perm Krai.
Tank cars of a freight train caught fire on the railway section between Sverdlovsk Oblast and Perm Krai, the press service of the Sverdlovsk Railway (SvZhD) reported.
On the Shamary–Kordon section of the double-track electrified Perm–Kuzino segment of the Sverdlovsk Railway, two tank cars in the rear of a freight train ignited. Two SvZhD fire trains were dispatched to the scene, the company clarified.
SvZhD added that traffic on the section has been suspended. Fortunately, no one was injured.
The Ural transport prosecutor’s office reported that the tank car fire caused delays to several passenger trains:
Train 146: St. Petersburg — Chelyabinsk
Train 10: Moscow — Vladivostok
Train 14: St. Petersburg — Novokuznetsk
Train 7177: Shalya — Perm 2
Train 7172: Perm 2 — Shalya
Trains 146, 10 and 14 were rerouted via a bypass through Nizhny Tagil station of the Sverdlovsk Railway.
