Yekaterinburg authorities will resettle residents of a dilapidated historic building in the city center.
In Yekaterinburg, plans are underway to relocate residents of 17 apartments in the building at 11b Popova Street. This follows from a decree approved by Mayor Alexey Orlov.
The building, erected in the 19th century, is listed in the register of cultural heritage sites ("House of first-guild merchant Mikhail Rozhnov"). The document states that the apartments are being withdrawn "for municipal needs."
According to the mayor’s office, the building, which was reconfigured into communal apartments during the Soviet era, contains about 20 flats. The fate of the mansion, declared unsafe, is not specified, the publication EAN writes.
Earlier reports said that one of the residential buildings in Yekaterinburg’s Chkalovsky district that had been declared unsafe would be demolished.
