Yekaterinburg is planning to create a dedicated lane for its tram network.
Yekaterinburg authorities are studying the issue of dedicating tram lanes, the Telegram channel "Yekaterinburg. Main" reports. According to Mayor Alexey Orlov, delineators (special posts) or curbstones are proposed to separate the rails from the roadway. They are to be installed on 14 sections of the street and road network with a total length of 50 kilometers of single track, EAN reports. The proposal covers the possible allocation of tram lanes on the following streets: 8 Marta Street, Lunacharsky Street, Lenin Street, Entuziastov Street, Donskaya Street, Vikulova Street, Kuibyshev Street, Pobedy Street, Malysheva Street, Starykh Bolshevikov Street, Chelyuskintsev Street, Gagarin Street, as well as on the sections from Moskovskaya to Posadskaya along Radishchev Street and from Shaumyan to Posadskaya along Belorechenskaya Street. It was previously reported that construction of a tram line has begun between the Akademichesky and Solnechny districts.
