A farmer in Revda had pigs that were roaming the town taken away until he mends his ways.

The Revda City Court ruled to forcibly seize and transfer to a specialized farm a herd of pigs belonging to a local farmer that had been roaming freely within the city limits.

According to the judicial press service of the Sverdlovsk Region, citizen A. Lutkov breeds agricultural animals — pigs and cattle — on his plot in the Metallistov Street area of the town of Revda. For several years the farm’s inhabitants caused concern and alarm to local residents. The Revda prosecutor’s office filed a lawsuit against the farmer.

"The court, in the prosecutor’s lawsuit, found that the pigs and cattle were kept in conditions dangerous to people and the environment: free roaming, lack of pens and shelters, animal remains and their waste were stored on the farmer’s premises," the judicial press service reported.

Particular concern was the farm’s proximity — just 100 meters — to the Revda River. Biological waste ran into the watercourse, creating a direct threat to epidemiological safety, since animals came there to drink.

In 2024 the court ordered A. Lutkov to eliminate the herd, bring the territory into order and stop the uncontrolled roaming of animals. However, pigs roaming the town continued to plague Revda residents.

"The court bailiffs took all possible measures to enforce the court’s decision, including bringing the debtor to administrative responsibility, but this had no effect. Due to Lutkov’s complete inaction, the bailiffs applied to the court with a new petition — to change the procedure for executing the court decision and transfer the authority to seize the livestock to the local administration," the regional courts’ press service said.

The Revda City Court granted this petition. The position of the Federal Bailiff Service (FSSP) was supported by the prosecutor, representatives of the administration and the veterinary service. The farmer himself did not appear at the hearing.

The court ordered the seizure of the agricultural animals that were moving uncontrolled across Revda and their transfer to the care of the peasant (farm) enterprise of A.U. Gatamov in the village of Klenovskoye. The animals will remain there until their lawful owner comes forward or another procedure is established in accordance with civil law.
