A record amount will be spent on public transportation in Yekaterinburg.

      More than 16 billion rubles have been allocated for Yekaterinburg’s public transport in the draft budget for 2026 — that amount is included in the municipal program "Development of the Public Transport System," writes the Telegram channel "Yekaterinburg Main."

      By volume of funding this item ranks second after spending on the social sector and the organization of children's recreation. Around 150 million rubles are planned to be allocated to the development of the metro. At the same time, the final budget figures may still be adjusted.

      In 2025, city authorities intended to allocate 18 billion rubles to transport, but the current estimated expenditures stand at about 17.5 billion — which is still a record for Yekaterinburg. The main expenses are for gross‑cost contracts and the renewal of rolling stock.

      Before the start of the transport reform, the city's transport expenditures did not exceed 1.3 billion rubles.
