The news agency URA.RU has a new owner.

Yesterday, December 1, the new owners of the URA.RU news agency from the Ridovka holding arrived at its newsroom in Yekaterinburg. The EAN agency reports this, citing an informed source.

"A total of six people came from Moscow, but only media manager Andrey Tkachenko came to the newsroom. Former Ura.ru employee Sergey Leonov, who at one time quit the agency amid a scandal and now works in Ridovka's management, did not come to speak with the staff," an EAN insider said.

According to the Yekaterinburg outlet, Tkachenko announced that URA.RU's regional newsrooms, including the Moscow office (or they must "prove their economic feasibility"), as well as the IT and commercial departments, will be liquidated. The search for advertisers, the EAN source said, was assigned to the journalists themselves.

It became known last week that the new owner of URA.RU is the Moscow media holding Ridovka, EAN writes. Previously the beneficiaries of URA.RU were businessmen Artem Bikov and Alexey Bobrov.

After a court, following a suit by the Prosecutor General's Office, reverted the entrepreneurs' property to state ownership, the asset was put up for auction along with others, and Ridovka bought a 75% stake. The remaining 25%, according to EAN, still belong to former URA.RU journalist and later executive Mikhail Vyugin.
