In Yekaterinburg, the 15-year-old daughter of a well-known blogger gave scammers 7 million rubles — video
In Yekaterinburg, scammers frightened a 15-year-old schoolgirl with the “leak” of her personal photos and then demanded that she hand over all the money in the house, the press group of the Yekaterinburg police department reported.
Thus, on December 2 a local resident turned to the Yekaterinburg police, reporting that unknown persons had convinced her daughter to give them 7 million rubles kept in a safe. As the girl explained, on November 28 an unknown person called her. The caller, who introduced himself as a courier, said a parcel had arrived in her name and asked for the confirmation code. The schoolgirl gave the code, and some time later strangers called her claiming to be from “Rosfinmonitoring.”
The fraudsters then led the child to believe that, using the code she had given, the criminals had hacked her Gosuslugi account, gained access to loans and were already transferring money. To prove her innocence, she was told to gather the cash at home and hand it over to a courier for declaration. The next day the schoolgirl opened her parents’ safe and handed all the money to the young man who arrived.
On December 1 the scammers contacted the victim again and demanded more. They threatened the girl that otherwise they would generate her photos with AI and post them online. Only after that did the schoolgirl tell her parents what had happened.
“A criminal case has been opened and is being investigated on the charge of ‘fraud on an especially large scale,’” the police said.
Teleshova herself recorded a video message for her followers:
“Our daughter became the victim of scammers, now they are blackmailing me. These people say they will post everywhere photos of the child generated by a neural network. We spend every evening together as a family, our daughter is smart, educated, but she’s as if brainwashed. In our case the daughter was afraid that we would be deprived of parental rights because she had allegedly received money through some scammers,” Teleshova said.
Earlier we reported how scammers convinced a young man from the Sverdlovsk region to go to Sakhalin.
