"What about the snow?" The Sverdlovsk traffic police launched the preventive campaign "Gorka."
A large-scale State Traffic Inspectorate operation, "Gorka," is taking place in Sverdlovsk Oblast, the regional State Traffic Inspectorate reports.
The "Gorka" event, aimed at preventing road accidents involving children, is being held from December 1, 2025, to March 1, 2026 under the overall supervision of the region’s State Traffic Inspectorate. Each hazardous spot is recorded and placed under special control until it is completely eliminated.
"The entire garrison of the Sverdlovsk police is involved in the operation. Road patrol officers, the precinct officers’ service, the juvenile affairs unit, and the patrol service are working in concert with local authorities, road and municipal services.
Their common goal is to identify and immediately eliminate all spontaneously formed sledding hills, snow slopes, ice formations and snowbanks whose exits lead onto the roadway and create a direct threat to the lives and health of children," the State Traffic Inspectorate reports.
"If you see a dangerous slope or hill near the roadway — do not pass by. Report it by calling 102," the police urge. Children's safety on the road is the shared responsibility of adults, the traffic inspectors emphasize.
"And what about the snow? It is there, but its amount is significantly less than the long-term average," meteorologist Alexey Pulin reports on his Telegram channel. According to him, by December 12 the normal snow depth in Yekaterinburg should be 15–17 cm, but it is expected to be 3–4 times less.
