A man from the Urals was detained for repeatedly transferring money to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

A resident of the Chelyabinsk region was detained on charges of treason, the EAN agency reports, citing the regional FSB.

The detained 52-year-old man is a staunch supporter of pro‑Ukrainian ideology, the agency’s press service says. On a confidential basis he cooperated with a representative of Ukraine’s special services. In 2024 he repeatedly transferred money to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

A few days ago it became known that a 46-year-old resident of the Chelyabinsk region who works on the railway had been detained. He collected and passed on information about the movements of trains carrying military equipment. Ukraine’s special services recruited him via the Internet, EAN writes.

In both cases, charges have been brought under the article on treason. The suspects face life imprisonment.

It should be noted that a year ago, on charges of treason, the Chelyabinsk Regional Court sentenced a now‑former security officer to 16 years in prison. The convicted man will spend the first five years in prison, the remainder of the term in a strict‑regime penal colony.

The man, whom the court later stripped of the military rank “senior lieutenant of the reserve” and the special rank “police major (retired)”, carried out a sabotage at one of the transport infrastructure facilities in the Chelyabinsk region on the orders of the GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, with which he cooperated on a confidential basis.
