A woman from Yekaterinburg killed her husband after he threatened to kill her.

In Yekaterinburg a 57-year-old local woman has been detained on suspicion of murdering her common‑law partner, KP‑Yekaterinburg reports. A few hours earlier a police unit had already been to their address.

The tragedy unfolded on the night of December 25 in a two‑storey house on Zamyatin Street in the Elmas district. At 22:35 the apartment owner phoned the police and reported that her 61‑year‑old common‑law partner was threatening her. The PPSP patrol unit that responded to the call took both to Police Department No. 14. The woman said that her partner had hit her and reached for a knife. However, she refused to file a complaint against him.

In the end the pair were released by the police and went home. But at one a.m. the Yekaterinburg woman called 02 again and reported that someone was “lunging at her with a knife.”

“However, this time they did not respond to her report,” a source familiar with the situation told KP‑Yekaterinburg.

During the day an ambulance, called by neighbors, discovered the man’s body in the ill‑fated apartment. Death occurred during the night. The man had been stabbed in the neck. Bloodied knives and scissors were found at the scene. The body lay in the apartment for more than 12 hours, the paper writes.

The apartment owner suspected of the murder, her 47‑year‑old friend and a 68‑year‑old neighbor were taken to a temporary detention facility (IVS) in a state of heavy alcohol intoxication.
