Another resignation has occurred in Sverdlovsk healthcare.
Sergey Leontyev, head of the Blokhin Ural Institute of Healthcare Management, has left his post. As one of the institution’s employees told URA.RU, Leontyev’s contract expired.
The institute, which was headed by Sergey Leontyev, provides continuing education for doctors, conducts scientific research and implements digital technologies in medicine. It was founded by Alexander Blokhin — the organizer of the Sverdlovsk Region’s healthcare system in the 1990s.
Sergey Leontyev led the GAUDPO “Blokhin Institute” since 2021, reports Kommersant‑Ural. Before his appointment as director of the institute, from 2019 he worked as a dietitian and as a physician of functional and anti‑aging medicine at the UGMK‑Zdorovye clinic.
Since 1981 Sergey Leontyev worked at the Yekaterinburg emergency medical station: he was a neurologist and deputy chief physician for medical affairs. In 1994 he became a psychotherapist at City Clinical Hospital No. 40, and in 1998 he was approved as deputy chairman of the Middle Ural Scientific Center of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the Russian Federation.
From 1999 to 2006 he served as deputy director for science at the Ural Scientific and Practical Center (NPC) for medico‑social and economic problems of healthcare and as a professor in the Department of Economics and Healthcare Management at the Ural State University of Economics.
Since 2006 he was deputy chief physician and later head of the Institute of Medical Cellular Technologies.
“Leontyev’s contract expired on December 23. Currently the duties of the head are being performed by Diana Mikhailova, who was deputy director for academic affairs,” the agency’s source explained.
This past year the region’s healthcare system has been undergoing a large‑scale personnel reshuffle, URA.RU notes. The reshuffle is being linked to the appointment of Tatyana Savinova as Minister of Health.
