An underground printing press that produced fake documents was raided in the Sverdlovsk Region.

A criminal syndicate that manufactured and sold "fake" documents, which operated, among other places, in the Sverdlovsk Region, was uncovered during a joint operation carried out by officers of the Russian Interior Ministry (MVD) and the Federal Security Service (FSB).

The MVD and FSB of Russia conducted an interregional special operation to dismantle a network of print shops that produced forged documents, the Antiterrorism Commission of the Sverdlovsk Region reported on its Telegram channel "Antiterror Ural."

The clandestine print shops, operating in residential and industrial premises, produced counterfeit passports, diplomas of education and advanced training, driver's licenses and medical certificates.

False information was entered into official forms bearing the details of state authorities. The finished "fake" documents were sent to buyers by mail and couriers.

The organizers advertised their services on more than 200 websites as well as on social networks and messaging apps. During searches, more than 50,000 forged documents, forms, stamps and seals of various institutions and organizations, and equipment were seized.

The operation was carried out by the Economic Security and Anti-Corruption Department of the Directorate of Internal Affairs for the Northern Administrative District of the Main Directorate of the MVD for Moscow together with officers of the FSB directorates for the city of Moscow and the Moscow Region, and for the Penza, Sverdlovsk, Ryazan, Yaroslavl, Tula, Kaluga and Kursk regions, the Republic of Tatarstan, the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, the Russian MVD reported.

"The total income from the illegal activities amounted to more than 2.6 billion rubles," said MVD spokeswoman Irina Volk.

In criminal cases opened under Part 4 of Article 327 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, 14 people have been arrested, and a further 45 have been placed under restrictions in the form of undertakings not to leave and to observe proper behavior. Measures to identify accomplices of the suspects continue.
