In Yekaterinburg a pavilion that previously housed a military recruitment point was set on fire. The blaze occurred in the area of the intersection of Vostochnaya and Kuibysheva.
A young man with his face covered by a bandana approached the pavilion and, through a small opening, poured liquid from an opaque bottle inside, after which he set the structure on fire.
The press service of the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Sverdlovsk Region reported that a fire report was received at the duty desk on the night of December 31.
— By the time fire and rescue units arrived, the pavilion was burning over an area of about 18 square meters. The fire was extinguished within 15 minutes. Ten EMERCOM personnel and three special vehicles were involved in the extinguishing, — the rescuers clarified.
No information about casualties has been received. The official causes of the fire are still being determined. According to witnesses, the military recruitment point in this pavilion has not been operating since September, writes Ura.Ru.
Earlier in the Sverdlovsk Region two teenagers died after deciding to celebrate the New Year with a group of friends.
