An elderly reckless driver from Yekaterinburg caused a multi-vehicle crash in Kamensk-Uralsky.
In Kamensk-Uralsky the State Traffic Inspectorate is establishing the circumstances of a multi-vehicle accident with injured persons. The crash occurred on Friday, January 9 at about 14:20 at the intersection of Pushkin and Michurin streets, the Russian State Traffic Inspectorate’s Office for the Sverdlovsk Region reported on Saturday.
According to preliminary information, the driver of a Nissan Almera, when exiting from the secondary road, Michurin Street, failed to yield the right of way and collided with two vehicles, an Opel Insignia and a Renault SR, which were traveling on the main road, Pushkin Street, in the oncoming direction.
As a result of the crash, two Renault passengers — a 65-year-old woman and a 69-year-old man — were taken to hospital with injuries. They were prescribed outpatient treatment. During her seven years of driving experience the 36-year-old woman driver of the Renault had never been held administratively liable.
The Nissan Almera was driven by a 65-year-old resident of Yekaterinburg with eight years of driving experience. The man had been held administratively liable for traffic violations 41 times. A test for alcohol intoxication produced a negative result.
Three administrative cases were drawn up against him, including for illegible license plates (as well as for a traffic rules violation that resulted in minor or moderate bodily harm, and for failing to yield to a vehicle that had priority at an intersection).
The Opel Insignia was thrown by the impact onto a snowbank. The Opel’s driver, a 42-year-old local resident, has 19 violations over 25 years of driving experience.
An investigation into the accident is underway. Administrative reports were also drawn up for two other participants in the crash. An administrative case was drawn up against the Opel driver under Part 1 of Article 12.5 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (driving a vehicle with wheel rims that do not conform to the vehicle’s design), and against the Renault driver under Part 1 of Article 12.5 of the Code (rear windshield wiper removed) and under Part 2 of Article 12.37 of the Code (absence of an OSAGO insurance policy).
