A new editor for URA.RU has been appointed in Yekaterinburg.
Journalist Ekaterina Kuraeva has become the editor-in-chief of the news agency Ura.ru. This was reported to Kommersant-Ural by Andrey Tkachenko, a representative of the Ridovka holding (the new owner of Ura.ru).
Ekaterina Kuraeva had previously worked at Ura.ru, but left the newsroom for other projects for a long time. From 2020 to 2022 she headed the Regional Management Center (TsUR) in the Kurgan Region, Kommersant-Ural reports.
Before her appointment, the post of Ura.ru editor-in-chief was held in an acting capacity by journalist Anastasia Gusarova.
Igor Sergeev became deputy editor-in-chief, Kommersant-Ural writes.
The head of Ura.ru’s regional editorial offices, Sergeev, was previously dismissed (along with former editor-in-chief Diana Kozlova, her deputy Anton Olshannikov and the former 25% co-owner, head of the editorial board Mikhail Vyugin), but was reinstated.
Recall that the news agency Ura.ru was seized as an asset from former owners Artem Bikov and Aleksey Bobrov following a suit by the Prosecutor General’s Office: 75% of the shares of LLC “Siberian-Ural Media Company” (the legal entity of Ura.ru) belonged to Elena Kuimova, a top manager at Bikov’s and Bobrov’s companies. The outlet was acquired by the Moscow holding Ridovka.
