      The Sverdlovsk Region reduced its state debt by one billion. This was reported by the Department of Information Policy.

      As of January 2026, the state debt amounted to 76.9 billion rubles, which is 1.1 billion lower than in December 2025. Since April 2025 the state debt has decreased by 15.7 billion rubles.

      “We are consistently working to reduce the state debt and the costs of servicing it. The structure of Sverdlovsk’s state debt contains no expensive loans obtained from credit institutions,” the EAN publication quotes Finance Minister Alexander Starkov as saying.

      Meanwhile, by contrast, the state debt of all regions of the Ural Federal District rose by 20 billion rubles in December.

      Earlier, the Sverdlovsk Region’s state debt became one of the largest in Russia.
