Gortrans has put 65 buses in Yekaterinburg on hold due to a shortage of spare parts.
Of the 170 buses purchased for Yekaterinburg in 2015-2016, 30 are idle due to the impracticality of repairs, while 35 are subject to restoration. Thus, a total of 80 buses are in operation.
The administration of Yekaterinburg reported that all units and spare parts in the foreign-made buses are of foreign origin. Analogues of spare parts are generally of lower quality.
At the moment, 144 buses with Mercedes engines remain on the balance of Yekaterinburg Municipal Unitary Enterprise "Gortrans": 30 are idle, and 35 are in conservation awaiting spare parts. It is impossible to purchase original parts.
— The enterprise tried to purchase similar spare parts, but they were of low quality and failed within a month. In addition, the loss of properties of batteries, rubber technical elements (hoses, pipes, seals, tires), loss of properties of oils, technical fluids, corrosion of metal structural elements, and lack of contact in electrical connections due to oxidation, when putting buses into operation, incurs additional financial costs and burden on technical personnel, the agency Ura.Ru was told by Gortrans.
Earlier, an expert explained why trams in Yekaterinburg regularly break down.
