Almost 6,000 heads of livestock of unknown origin were "passed through" the Sverdlovsk region.
In the Sverdlovsk region, a large-scale scheme for the legalization of cattle of unknown origin has been uncovered, from which meat products were produced for supply throughout Russia after slaughter. This was reported by the portal v-tagile.ru, citing the Ural Interregional Office of Rosselkhoznadzor.
In 2025 and in January-February 2026, the enterprise received 5,900 heads of cattle (Cattle) from almost 20 regions of Russia. At the same time, company representatives were unable to provide documents confirming the purchase. The legal entity of the enterprise was in bankruptcy proceedings and officially did not conduct financial and economic operations.
Veterinary accompanying documents (VSD) for the animals were issued by a veterinarian from another region on behalf of a company that officially stated that it had no contractual relations with the Sverdlovsk enterprise.
Despite this, the authorized veterinary doctor of the enterprise accepted (canceled) false incoming documents for cattle in the "Mercury" system, after which he issued new transport VSDs (confirming the safety of the cargo, canceled by the recipient - note Uralweb.ru) already for meat products addressed to a trading company.
Subsequently, potentially unsafe meat products were sent to social institutions, retail chains, and food markets in 37 regions of the country, including the Sverdlovsk region, writes v-tagile.ru.
Currently, Rosselkhoznadzor has taken measures to stop illegal activities: all operations in the "Mercury" component have been blocked, issued VSDs have been annulled, and the activities of the enterprises and responsible persons involved in the scheme have been suspended. A criminal case has been initiated in Yekaterinburg against the organization that legalized cattle using forged veterinary and accompanying documents.
