A high-speed highway will be built between Yekaterinburg and Moscow.
Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev announced plans to construct a high-speed railway line along the route Moscow - Yekaterinburg, passing through Kazan. The project is being implemented as part of the development of the high-speed rail network in Russia, approved by President Vladimir Putin.
According to Savelyev, the program includes the creation of five high-speed lines, one of which will affect the Sverdlovsk region, which serves as a key industrial site for the project. He emphasized that the implementation is taking place under challenging natural and climatic conditions, and a number of technical solutions have no analogs. In particular, the Moscow - St. Petersburg line will become the first in the world with a gauge of 1520 mm, designed for speeds of up to 400 km/h.
The production of the first Russian high-speed train has already been organized at the Ural Locomotives plant in the Sverdlovsk region. The project was launched by Vladimir Putin in March 2024.
The assembly of the first trainset is already underway at the factory: the welding of the bodies of the leading cars has been completed, and work continues on the other components. The train will consist of eight cars and is designed to carry up to 460 passengers. By 2030, the plan is to produce 43 such trainsets.
