The trial for the gas explosion that killed 11 people in a building on Sibirskaya has begun in Nizhny Tagil.
The criminal case regarding the death of 11 people as a result of the collapse of two entrances of a residential building on Siberian Street, 81, which occurred on August 1, 2024, has begun to be heard in Nizhny Tagil. The court proceedings started on Wednesday, April 1.
The Dzerzhinsky District Court of Nizhny Tagil, with the participation of the state prosecutor, has commenced the examination of the criminal case against three employees of JSC "GAZEX" and a local resident, reports the Prosecutor's Office of the Sverdlovsk Region.
The employees of JSC "GAZEX" - master Maxim Grivsky and fitters Alexander Alimov and Alexandra Yerykina - are accused under part 3 of article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (performing work and providing services that do not meet safety requirements for the life or health of consumers, if they caused, through negligence, serious harm to health, the death of two or more persons), and article 168 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (destruction and damage to another's property on a large scale).
The owner of the apartment, Elena Serbinova, is accused under part 3 of article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (causing death by negligence to two or more persons), part 1 of article 118 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (causing serious harm to health by negligence), and article 168 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (destruction and damage to another's property on a large scale).
On the afternoon of August 1, 2024, an explosion of a gas-air mixture occurred in the building, the cause of which, according to the conclusion of a comprehensive examination, was a gas leak in the kitchen area of the accused's apartment, which led to the destruction of two entrances of the building.
According to the prosecution's version, from August 2019 to August 2024, a resident of Yekaterinburg, being the owner of an apartment on the first floor of residential building No. 81 on Siberian Street in Nizhny Tagil, allowed that during repair work, the gas hose ended up in the wall, which limited access to it.
Also, being absent from the apartment for more than 24 hours, the accused did not close the shut-off valve (tap).
Two fitters from JSC "GAZEX," performing maintenance work in the building on June 24, 2024, despite the limited access to the owner's in-apartment gas equipment, did not conduct a proper check of the integrity of the in-apartment gas equipment, the presence of draft in the ventilation channels, and did not take measures to stop the gas supply to the apartment.
At the same time, one of the fitters, in violation of GOST, unilaterally conducted a pressure test of the gas pipeline.
The master of the in-house gas equipment service was not present during the work, did not supervise the work of the fitters and its results, signing a conclusion about the completion of the work in full.
Recall that as a result of the collapse of the two entrances, 11 people died (including 6 children), and another 12 people were injured of varying degrees of severity. A significant number of residents suffered property damage.
The next court session will take place today, April 2.
It was previously reported that one of the deceased in the collapse is the underage daughter of the accused Serbinova. The girl was in the apartment on the first floor.
