The "Ford Explorer" crashed into a stationary truck with a semi-trailer in Yekaterinburg, with the driver and passenger taken to the hospital, reports the State Traffic Inspectorate of Yekaterinburg.
The accident occurred in the Oktyabrsky district of Yekaterinburg on Monday, April 13, at 23:36.
Preliminary investigations have established that on the 15th kilometer of the Siberian Highway Bypass, the "Ford Explorer," traveling on the highway from Tyumen towards Yekaterinburg, failed to maintain constant control of the road and collided with a stationary "Scania" truck with a "Schmidt" semi-trailer.
As a result of the accident, the driver, a 53-year-old native of the city of Sukhoi Log, and his 31-year-old passenger (who was in the left rear passenger seat at the time of the accident) were taken to GKB No. 36 by an ambulance crew.
The driver of the truck, a 49-year-old man, was not injured.
An investigation into the accident is underway. Officers of the State Traffic Inspectorate conducted measurements at the scene and appointed the necessary examinations.
The State Traffic Inspectorate draws drivers' attention to the inadmissibility of operating a vehicle while fatigued. The chosen speed and driving mode must ensure the driver’s ability to maintain constant control over the vehicle.
