Investigators determined whether the train derailment involving the young Ural residents was an act of sabotage.
In the Ulyanovsk region, charges have been brought against an employee of JSC "Russian Railways" following the derailment of a passenger train in early April of this year, reports the "Investigative Committee" channel in MAX.
As established by investigators from the Central Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia, the violations that led to the derailment of the passenger train were committed by an engineer of the network diagnostic complex of infrastructure "ERA+" No. 519 from the Samara Center for Diagnostics and Monitoring of Infrastructure Devices of JSC "Russian Railways."
He has been charged under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of safety rules for the movement and operation of railway transport by a person who, due to their work and position, is obliged to comply with these rules, if these actions resulted in causing significant damage through negligence).
At the request of the investigator, the court has chosen a preventive measure for the accused in the form of a ban on certain actions.
According to the investigation, on March 27 of this year, the accused, while performing his duties, committed criminal negligence: after receiving a transcript of the defectogram of the railway track along the section of the Kuibyshev Railway from the 888th km to the 1078th km, the engineer, having identified the defects present, did not initiate a secondary, more detailed inspection.
As a result, on April 3, at the 953rd km of the section between the Putey station and the Bryandino station of the Kuibyshev Railway, during the passage of passenger train No. 302 traveling from "Moscow to Chelyabinsk," 8 cars derailed due to a rail break caused by a defect that was not identified during the defectogram analysis.
As a result of the negligent actions of the accused, more than 80 passengers of the train, including children, sustained injuries of varying severity.
In addition, infrastructure objects of JSC "Russian Railways" were damaged. The extent of the damage is being determined.
A comprehensive set of investigative actions is being conducted to establish all the circumstances and causes of the incident. More than 100 witnesses have been interrogated, and over 80 forensic examinations have been appointed.
