On April 23, 2026, front-line veteran of the Federal Penitentiary Service Semen Grigoryevich Blagin was congratulated in Tavda on his 101st birthday, reports the press service of the penitentiary department of Russia in the Sverdlovsk region.
Employees of IK-26 (Tavda) and members of the Veterans Council of institution I-299 congratulated the veteran of the Great Patriotic War and the penal enforcement system Semen Grigoryevich Blagin on his 101st birthday.
Semen Grigoryevich's combat path began in the 19th Separate Airborne Division and continued as part of the 9th Airborne Army.
He participated in the defeat of enemy tank groups in the Budapest area and on the approaches to Vienna, liberated the capital of Austria, as well as the cities of St. Pölten, Székesfehérvár, Mor, Ziréz, and many other settlements.
During the war years, he was wounded three times. For his selflessness and heroism displayed in battles, he was awarded two medals "For Courage," the medal "For Military Merit," the Order of the Red Star, the Order of the Patriotic War II class, and numerous jubilee medals.
After the war, Semen Grigoryevich tied his life to Tavda, where he continued to serve in the penal enforcement system.
Having retired with the rank of captain of the internal service, he remains an example of courage and zest for life even today. Despite his advanced age, the veteran maintains a cheerful spirit, clarity of mind, and regularly engages in physical exercise.
