      In Yekaterinburg, the driver of a Toyota Land Cruiser, while entering the courtyard of an apartment building, ran over a 12-year-old child riding a bicycle. The boy was taken to DMB No. 9 by an ambulance crew.

      The accident occurred on Wednesday, April 22, at 14:51 at 124 Sheinkman Street, as reported by the State Traffic Inspectorate of Russia in Yekaterinburg.

      According to preliminary data, a traffic jam formed when entering the courtyard. Because of this, the driver of the Toyota Land Cruiser stopped, and while moving, he ran over the cyclist who was moving along the line of the sidewalk from right to left in the direction of the vehicle's movement.

      As a result of the accident, the 12-year-old child was seriously injured. He was not wearing protective gear.

      The driver was sober at the time of the accident. He explained that he did not see the boy due to a booth. Previously, the man, who has 30 years of driving experience, had been held administratively responsible for violating traffic rules five times.

      An administrative investigation has been initiated regarding the accident under part 2 of Article 12.24 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of traffic rules resulting in moderate harm to the health of the victim"), under Article 12.18 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation ("Failure to give way to pedestrians"), and under part 1.1 of Article 12.5 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation ("Lack of a diagnostic card").

      The State Traffic Inspectorate draws drivers' attention to the necessity of strict adherence to traffic rules, especially when entering courtyard areas and moving in conditions of traffic jams. Parents should monitor the safety of child cyclists, including their mandatory use of protective gear.
