In the Sverdlovsk region, parking lots and underground spaces are being adapted as bomb shelters.

      The authorities of the Sverdlovsk region have approved minimum requirements for underground facilities that can be used for sheltering the population in case of an alarm. The corresponding decree was signed by Governor Denis Pasler, reports "Signal Ural."

      Basements, semi-basements, and technical floors of residential buildings, underground parking lots, garages, warehouses, and spaces in shopping centers can be converted into shelters. The use of windowless rooms is permitted if they are located between load-bearing walls.

      The document establishes a capacity standard of at least 0.6 square meters per person, and the distance to the nearest shelter should not exceed one kilometer. The premises must be equipped with seating areas, toilets, a supply of technical water, and, if possible, access to drinking water. Functional ventilation and lighting are also mandatory, and the shelters themselves must be kept clean and dry.

      Responsibility for the readiness and maintenance of such premises lies with the owners. They are required to clear the shelters of unnecessary property, ensure access to them, and inform residents about the location of the premises and keys. Additionally, special signs must be placed at the entrances.
