A Yekaterinburg hockey player ruptured his biceps
May 13, 2026 In Yekaterinburg, 42-year-old former professional hockey player Eduard ruptured his biceps. He injured his arm while lifting a heavy structure. He has already undergone a rehabilitation course at the Regional Specialized Hospital for Medical Rehabilitation "Lipovka."
The man only consulted doctors three days later—with extensive bruising and severe swelling. Diagnostics revealed micro-tears in the biceps, as well as old untreated injuries: shoulder joint osteoarthritis, ligament damage, clavicle displacement, and rotator cuff tendon issues, impingement syndrome.
— The patient's shoulder joint was destabilized. The fresh injury overlapped with the old ones, complicating recovery: the tissues already have scar changes, and blood circulation is impaired. This threatens to reduce the elasticity of muscles and ligaments, bone density, which can provoke chronic fractures and even limb shortening, — said the chief physician of "Lipovka," Irena Bazite, to the press service of the Sverdlovsk Ministry of Health.
The rehabilitation program included a natural factor (low-radon water from a spring near the health resort), kinesitherapy, manual and apparatus massage, pneumomassage, and physiotherapy. To relieve pain and inflammation, radon baths and underwater shower massage (Hubbard bath) were used. Strength training was conducted under the supervision of an instructor, and mechanotherapy on an automated device allowed for a gradual increase in the range of motion, writes Ura.Ru.
