An elderly driver of a Chevrolet Niva died near Beloyarka when entering the main road.
A driver died in a traffic accident that occurred the day before in the Beloyarsky district, reports the State Traffic Inspectorate of Russia for the Sverdlovsk region.
The accident happened on Wednesday, May 13, at 12:20 on the 6th kilometer of the road "access to the village of Bolshyebrusyanskoye from 45 km of the Yekaterinburg-Tyumen highway."
According to preliminary data, a 73-year-old driver of a Chevrolet Niva, while exiting from a secondary road onto an uncontrolled intersection of unequal roads, violated the requirement of sign 2.4 "Yield" and did not give way to a Gazelle traveling on the main road from the direction of the village of Bolshyebrusyanskoye towards the Yekaterinburg-Tyumen highway.
Upon impact, both vehicles went off the road into the ditch. The driver of the Chevrolet Niva died at the scene from the injuries sustained. His passenger, a 65-year-old woman, was taken by ambulance to the Beloyarsk Central Hospital with bodily injuries but was not hospitalized.
The driver of the Gazelle was a 56-year-old man, and the result of the sobriety test conducted at the scene was negative.
The man explained to the police that he noticed in time how the Chevrolet Niva was entering his lane from the secondary road and attempted to avoid the collision, but was unable to do so.
Both drivers are local residents and have 20 years of experience driving vehicles. It has been established that the deceased had previously been held administratively responsible for traffic violations 4 times, while the driver of the Gazelle had been held responsible 12 times.
