      In Yekaterinburg, a 20-year-old girl has appeared before the court, accused of pickpocketing 1.2 million rubles. The defendant is charged with four episodes of theft.

      In April 2025, a mobile phone was stolen from a local resident at the "Mars" shopping center. It later became clear that the theft occurred when the victim was descending the escalator and got distracted to put her dog on the floor. After a while, the thief used the banking app installed on the victim's phone and took out a loan of 410 thousand rubles. However, she was only able to cash out 100 thousand, as the bank blocked the account due to suspicious transactions.

      Another criminal episode occurred in May of the same year at the "Rainbow Park" shopping center. The perpetrator managed to steal an iPhone 15 belonging to a café visitor. The woman left her bag unattended for a few seconds and instantly lost her gadget.

      But the largest damage was inflicted on a businesswoman operating a trade booth in the "Beijing" shopping center. Taking advantage of the influx of visitors and the owner's busyness, the pickpocket pulled a wallet containing 1.2 million rubles from her bag. Concealing the "loot" under her clothing, the thief made her escape.

      — During the operational-search activities, the officers of the criminal investigation department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Yekaterinburg eventually managed to expose the serial pickpocket. The detained individual attempted to avoid arrest by presenting a fake pregnancy certificate.       Investigators from the city police department have investigated and sent to court a criminal case against the citizen for crimes under the articles "Theft" and "Fraud." Previously, in Yekaterinburg, two schoolchildren stole almost 3 million rubles.
