May 22, 2026 The Verkh-Isetsky District Court of Yekaterinburg has placed a biker under arrest for kicking a police officer from the traffic patrol while in motion.
The preliminary investigation authorities accuse the man of committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Use of violence dangerous to life and health against a representative of the authorities").
The incident occurred on the night of May 19 to 20 on Marshal Zhukov Street in Yekaterinburg, according to the press service of the Sverdlovsk region courts.
According to the investigation, the accused, Mikhail Shvetsov, while riding his personal motorcycle, intentionally kicked the service motorcycle of the traffic police with his left foot. The police officer riding it fell and sustained bodily injuries.
The court, having considered the investigator's petition for the arrest of the accused, on May 21 chose a measure of restraint for Mikhail Shvetsov in the form of detention for a period until July 19, 2026.
The ruling has not yet entered into legal force and can be appealed within 3 days.
Recall that in June 2018, a high-profile traffic accident involving a police motorcyclist occurred in Yekaterinburg. During a chase of an offender on a motorcycle, he crashed into cars and sustained serious traumatic brain injury. The biker, whom the police officer was chasing, fled the scene. According to an auto expert, the inspector was saved by the fact that the impact was tangential.
A similar case to the current one occurred in Yekaterinburg exactly 10 years ago, in May 2016. Then a biker also kicked the pursuing motorcycle inspector and fled.
