The Yekaterinburg resident, 39-year-old Alexander Gnitev, who had previously served time for treason, is accused of financing extremism.
The man was arrested by the decision of the Verkh-Isetsky District Court. The defense filed an appeal, but the Sverdlovsk Regional Court upheld the decision.
"He has been taken into custody until July 18," the press service of the Sverdlovsk Regional Court told "FederalPress."
Alexander Gnitev previously worked at a research and production association for automation. In 2012, he was sentenced to eight years in a penal colony for treason. According to media reports, he sold designs of the Bulava missile control system to foreign intelligence for $50,000.
Recall that in 2024, the Sverdlovsk Regional Court sentenced young spouses Danil and Victoria Mukhametov from Nizhny Tagil for treason. It was reported that they transferred military designs to the Ukrainian special services for 100,000 rubles.
