Yekaterinburg doctors saved a man from arm amputation after he fell from a height.
In Yekaterinburg, doctors saved a man from arm amputation. This was reported by the press service of the Sverdlovsk Ministry of Health.
The patient was admitted to Central City Clinical Hospital No. 24. He fell from a height of three meters at his workplace. Doctors diagnosed acute ischemia of the right arm; due to post-traumatic thrombosis, the main blood flow ceased, creating a risk of amputation.
Vascular surgeon Vyacheslav Bochegov from the Territorial Center for Disaster Medicine arrived at the scene. Together with colleagues from Central City Clinical Hospital No. 24, he removed the damaged segment of the artery and formed a connection between the ends of the artery, fully restoring the main blood flow.
— In cases of trauma to the main arteries, the optimal time to restore blood flow is no more than 6-8 hours; otherwise, irreversible changes occur. Our doctors managed to do it within 4.5 hours from the moment of injury, which allowed saving the limb from amputation, the department noted.
Earlier, a girl with pancreatic cancer was operated on in Yekaterinburg.
