The Sverdlovsk ombudsman reported an increase in cases of sending unfit individuals to the special military operation
June 14, 2026 The number of dispatches of "completely unfit people" who are "dangerous and harmful to the army" has increased in the Sverdlovsk region. This was stated in an interview with "Ъ-Ural" by the human rights commissioner in the region, Tatyana Merzlyakova.
As an example, the ombudsman cited a case where one of the "unscrupulous recruiters" brought a resident of Rezh with a confirmed mental disorder to the selection point. "The young man was sent directly to the front," added Tatyana Merzlyakova to "Ъ-Ural."
In messages to the ombudsman, it was reported that he needed to be urgently returned before he "compromised himself and betrayed our guys."
After that, she contacted the head of the police of the Central Military District, Tatyana Georgievna said. The resident of Rezh was immediately sent to a psychiatric military medical commission, which confirmed the diagnosis. At this point, the man has already been sent home.
The ombudsman reported that such cases have only increased recently. Merzlyakova expressed the opinion that criminal cases should be initiated against recruiters who supply knowingly unfit individuals to combat zones. So far, there have been no precedents that would deter others from engaging in this practice.
It was previously reported that recruiters are attracting volunteers to sign contracts with the Ministry of Defense for payment.
