The authorities of Yekaterinburg have outlined their position on the future of the "Kolyada-Theater" after the founder's death.

The Department of Culture of the administration of Yekaterinburg has officially commented for the first time on the situation surrounding the ANO "Kolyada-Theater," which arose after the death of its founder Nikolai Kolyada. The occasion was numerous public appeals urging the recognition of Eku Vashakidze as the founder of the theater.

As reported by "Signal Ural," the agency explained that current Russian legislation does not allow for the transfer of the status of founder of an autonomous non-profit organization by inheritance or to assign it through the courts to a person who originally did not have such status. According to department representatives, the rights of the founder are purely organizational in nature and do not pertain to property.

In connection with the death of the sole founder and director of the theater, the collective will need to form new governing bodies in accordance with established legal procedures.

City authorities also emphasized that they cannot interfere in judicial proceedings, as the judicial system is independent. At the same time, the administration is ready to assist in finding a solution that will allow the theater to continue its work.

The court hearing on the lawsuit by Nikolai Kolyada's former assistant Eku Vashakidze is scheduled for June 19. The plaintiff is seeking recognition of her status as the founder of the theater, explaining this as a necessity to gain access to the organization's accounts and to resume financial activities.
