In the Sverdlovsk region, since the beginning of 2026, 57 people have died at their workplaces. According to the press service of Rostrud, all these cases are not related to workplace injuries—the cause of death was various diseases. Among the deceased workers were 48 men and nine women. Cardiovascular diseases were the most common cause of death. The ages of the deceased residents of Sverdlovsk ranged from 24 to 73 years. Moreover, more than half of the cases—31 deaths or 54%—were among workers aged 50 to 60 years. Rostrud reminded employers of the necessity to timely send employees for mandatory medical examinations, which help identify diseases and reduce the risks of sudden health deterioration at the workplace. A Yekaterinburg resident burned her legs while working on a laptop from home.
