The bus driver who killed four people near the temple in Yekaterinburg is trying to get out of pre-trial detention.
The defendants in the case of the fatal traffic accident involving a bus in the center of Yekaterinburg attempted to challenge their arrest. Appeals were filed by the driver of bus No. 81, Ikromjon Khamraev, and the director of the transportation company LLC "Avto-Nom," Alexey Yarkov. Khamraev is accused in a criminal case of violating traffic rules, resulting in the negligent death of two or more people. He could face up to seven years in prison.
In turn, the director of the carrier, Alexey Yarkov, is charged with providing services that do not meet safety requirements and led to the death of two or more individuals. The investigation believes that the company systematically violated labor organization and rest requirements for drivers, which could have affected the safety of passenger transportation.
The Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Sverdlovsk Region states that the director of the enterprise improperly organized pre-trip medical examinations for employees, did not ensure the necessary briefings were conducted, and did not check the level of professional training of foreign drivers, including knowledge of the Russian language. In addition, investigators point to a number of other violations related to the organization of transportation.
The criminal article under which the case against Yarkov is being investigated provides for a penalty of up to 10 years in prison.
On the evening of June 10, a fatal traffic accident involving a passenger bus occurred in the center of Yekaterinburg. At the intersection of Malysheva and March 8 streets, bus route No. 81 collided with a Lifan passenger car, after which it lost control, drove onto the sidewalk, and crashed into people.
As a result of the accident, four people died - two women, a man, and a 9-year-old boy. Several others were injured and hospitalized.
It has been preliminarily established that the bus entered the intersection on a red traffic light. Investigative authorities and police officers continue to establish all the circumstances and causes of the tragedy that occurred.
