"I do not adhere to Nazi views." A swastika was found on the social media of the Tagil "Hitler."
Eighteen-year-old resident of Nizhny Tagil, Timofey Vakhonin, who ordered pizza under the name Adolf Hitler, has been found guilty of publicly displaying Nazi symbols.
It was established that on June 9, Vakhonin, a student at a construction college, posted a photo in one of the open chats of a messenger showing prohibited symbols drawn on the surface of a desk at the educational institution. Later, he erased the drawing and also deleted the photo from the internet, the press service of the Sverdlovsk region courts reported on Thursday.
"Additionally, during the proceedings, it was established that he placed an order in the food court of a shopping center under the name 'Adolf Hitler'," the statement said.
The actions of the young man were classified under part 1 of Article 20.3 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation (Propaganda or public demonstration of Nazi attributes or symbols, or attributes or symbols of extremist organizations).
At the court hearing held at the Leninsky District Court of Nizhny Tagil, Vakhonin fully admitted his guilt and expressed remorse.
In determining the punishment, the court took into account the absence of aggravating circumstances and the voluntary elimination of the violation.
However, considering the nature of the offense and its public significance, the court concluded that a fine would not be sufficient to achieve the goals of preventing new offenses. As an administrative penalty, Vakhonin was sentenced to 5 days of arrest.
The court ruling has not yet entered into legal force and may be appealed by the parties to the Sverdlovsk Regional Court within ten days from the moment of delivery of the copy.
