In the Urals, a verdict was handed down to a labor veteran who was detained in a neighboring region with a bag of drugs.
In the Chelyabinsk region, a verdict was handed down to a pensioner from Pervouralsk, accused under the article on attempted drug trafficking in especially large quantities, reports "Komsomolskaya Pravda - Yekaterinburg" on Friday.
Seventy-two-year-old labor veteran Nina Kropantseva was detained in February of this year in a neighboring region, where she had traveled with her 15-year-old grandson.
"The court established that on February 5, 2026, the defendant, intending to sell drugs, arrived with her minor grandson by taxi in the Yekulsky district. Using data about the location of drugs from an application on her mobile phone, she retrieved a package with mephedrone weighing 3002.7 g from a hiding place. The pensioner was unable to realize her intent to sell drugs due to her arrest," the Chelyabinsk region prosecutor's office reported.
The teenager was soon released; in the criminal case investigated under part 3 of article 30, part 5 of article 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, the woman's grandson was a witness, reports "Komsomolskaya Pravda - Yekaterinburg."
Meanwhile, as follows from the plot of the program "Emergency" on the NTV channel, the pensioner explained that she went to the Chelyabinsk region for her grandson, who told her that he needed to retrieve a bag of money from a hiding place there. Both were detained when the grandson was pulling the bag out of a snowdrift at one of the dumps.
"In relation to the minor grandson, no criminal case was initiated due to his not reaching the age of criminal responsibility," the regional prosecutor's office explained.
During the court debates, the state prosecutor requested 15 years in a general regime colony for the resident of Sverdlovsk. The Yekulsky District Court, taking into account the age and positive characteristics of the accused, sentenced her to 8 years of imprisonment.
