Only a small part of Yekaterinburg residents find housing chats useful
June 19, 2026 Only 14% of Yekaterinburg residents believe that the housing chat really helps solve household issues. This was shown by a survey conducted by the insurance company Rosgosstrakh (RGS). 68% of respondents in the RGS survey are part of various chats related to their place of residence. However, not everyone considers them useful.
Thus, 26% of respondents expressed the opinion that complaints and conflicts prevail in housing chats. Every fifth Yekaterinburg resident (21%) is sure that such a format of communication is not needed at all. Another 16% are annoyed by the messages, and 12% prefer to read the correspondence but do not participate in discussions. At the same time, 11% do not have such a chat, although they would like to have one.
The prevalence of common chats depends on the size of the house. Notably, according to the survey data, tenants participate in neighborhood chats more actively than those who pay a mortgage for their own apartment (78% vs. 73%). Even less often in the chat are homeowners who purchased their property with their own funds (55%).
Previously participated but then deleted
The older the respondent, the less often they become a participant in the housing chat. The chat is most used by Yekaterinburg residents aged 18-25 and 26-35 (70% and 76% of respondents in these age categories are in chats). Among residents aged 36-45, it is 67%. The least common such channels for communication with neighbors are found among Yekaterinburg residents aged 46-55 — at 51%. “Today, housing chats have become a norm of life. However, the research shows that the attitude towards such chats remains ambiguous. On the one hand, it is a convenient tool for communication: to warn about water shutdowns, find a lost cat, or raise the issue of a broken elevator. On the other hand, chats have long ceased to be a ‘territory of good’,” says Ekaterina Zenchenko, director of development and underwriting for property insurance for individuals at Rosgosstrakh.

Housing chats in MAX will have official administrators
Each housing chat for residents of an apartment building (all of which should have transitioned to the MAX messenger by the end of last year) must have an official administrator — a management company (MC), homeowners' association (HOA), or the chairman of the house council.
