A group of teenagers in a car bought by a 16-year-old driver crashed in Yekaterinburg.

      Four underage teenagers were injured in a traffic accident that occurred the evening before, on June 20, on Alpinistov Street, 77 "c" in Yekaterinburg, the city traffic police reported on Sunday.

      The accident involving two cars happened at 18:09. The "Moskvich Oda" vehicle, while moving from the direction of the Khimmash microdistrict towards Koltsovo, crossed into the oncoming lane and collided with a KIA Ceed.

      As a result of the accident, the 16-year-old driver of the "Oda," who does not have a driver's license, and three of his passengers, also minors: two 16-year-old girls and a 14-year-old boy, were injured. At the time of the accident, they were not wearing seat belts. All four were hospitalized with injuries of varying severity.

      Another 19-year-old passenger who was also in the "Moskvich Oda" explained that he did not inquire about the driver's license before the trip.

      During the investigation, it was established that the minor purchased the vehicle three days before the incident. The teenager's mother informed the police that she was unaware of her son's purchase of the car.

      An examination of the 16-year-old driver will be conducted at the location of his hospitalization.

      Administrative proceedings have been initiated regarding the accident under part 1 of article 12.7 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation (driving a vehicle by a driver without a license), article 12.24 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation (traffic violations causing harm to health), and article 12.37 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation (failure to comply with mandatory civil liability insurance requirements).

      The collected materials have been sent to the juvenile affairs authorities and the territorial commission for appropriate measures to be taken. A commission inspection of the educational institution where the driver studies will also be conducted.

      The investigation into the traffic accident is ongoing.
