The Yekaterinburg Puppet Theater received the "Golden Mask" for its production.
The Yekaterinburg Puppet Theater has become a laureate of the National Theater Award "Golden Mask" in the nomination "Best Puppet Theater Performance." This was reported by the Department of Information Policy of the Sverdlovsk Region.
The results of the 32nd award ceremony for the "Golden Mask" were announced on Saturday, June 20, in Omsk.
The theater received the "Golden Mask" for the performance "Zoykina Kvartera." Previously, the production by director Igor Kazakov became a laureate of the festival "Siberia. Terra Magica" and the Sverdlovsk Theater Award "Bravo!", gaining recognition from the professional community. Now, this award has been added to those honors, along with the country's main theater award.
"The production based on Mikhail Bulgakov's play tells the story of people trying to survive in the rapidly changing Moscow of the NEP era. The apartment of Zoya Pelts becomes a refuge for the heroes, where a risky adventure unfolds under the guise of a sewing workshop. Bulgakov himself defined the genre of the play as 'tragic buffoonery' — a story in which the funny and the tragic are inseparable," the regional information policy department reports the plot of the performance.
The Sverdlovsk region rightfully considers itself one of the leading theater regions in Russia. The theaters of the region have already collected more than 60 "Golden Masks."
