An expert explained when the name "Adolf Hitler" is considered propaganda for Nazism.
The actions of construction college student Timofey Vakhonin from Nizhny Tagil, who introduced himself as Adolf Hitler while ordering food at a food court, cannot be considered a joke. This was stated by forensic expert Anna Plotnikova, as reported by 66.RU.
On June 17, the Nizhny Tagil court sentenced the student to five days in jail under the article on public demonstration of Nazi symbols. This sparked debates on social media about whether the actions of the young man, who introduced himself to the pizzeria staff with the name of a Nazi criminal, can be considered propaganda.
According to the chief state expert of the "Ural Regional Center for Forensic Expertise of the Ministry of Justice of Russia," Anna Plotnikova, the local resident was rightly held administratively accountable.
"It would have been a joke if Spider-Man or Carlson had come. When a name of a Nazi criminal is chosen for self-presentation, it is not a joke," Plotnikova noted. "Such self-presentation contains a linguistic sign of propaganda."
It is worth noting that Vakhonin, as later reported by the police, also shared an image of a Nazi swastika in his correspondence, which he then deleted.
The story about the order became known thanks to the Telegram channel of State Duma deputy Alexey Svalov from Tagil. "All this happened in front of my friend - a participant in the Special Military Operation. I can't imagine what strength he held back to not smash his face into the table. The young man was absolutely not hiding," Svalov wrote.
