The Sverdlovsk police have completed the investigation into the fatal traffic accident on Cosmonauts Avenue.

      The employees of the Main Investigative Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Sverdlovsk Region have completed the investigation of a high-profile criminal case initiated due to a fatal traffic accident on Cosmonauts Avenue in Yekaterinburg on April 11, 2026. This was reported by the head of the press service of the regional police department, Valery Gorelykh.

      According to him, the materials collected by the investigators filled three volumes. The criminal case has been sent for approval and signing of the indictment to the Deputy Prosecutor of the region, Senior Justice Advisor Vadim Chukreev.

      — The suspect in the high-profile case was arrested at the request of the police and has been in custody in a pre-trial detention center to this day. During the proceedings, representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs organized about 10 forensic examinations. The accused has admitted his guilt and paid the victim's side 1 million rubles. The injured child has suffered serious harm to health. He has now been discharged from the hospital and is receiving outpatient treatment with his father. The case will be sent for substantive consideration to the Ordzhonikidze District Court of the capital of the Middle Urals, noted Colonel Gorelykh.

      Let us remind you, according to the investigation, on April 11 at around 18:30, Garenki, being under the influence of alcohol while driving a Lexus LX570 and moving along Cosmonauts Avenue from Shefskaya Street towards Architect Bezrukov Street, failed to maintain constant control over the vehicle's movement and chose an unsafe distance. As a result of the accident provoked by the Lexus driver, a 30-year-old female driver of a BMW died in the hospital from her injuries. In the car with her in the back seat was a minor child, who is currently in the hospital in serious condition.
