Heavy rain floods hit Sverdlovsk region
June 30, 2026 The water levels in rivers have risen due to heavy rainfall in the Sverdlovsk region, reported the regional information policy department. Emergency measures are being taken to eliminate the consequences of the rain floods and to assist people living in the flooded areas.
The water level has risen in three rivers due to heavy rainfall. As of June 29, seven low-water bridges have been flooded in the Sverdlovsk region, and road transport communication has been temporarily restricted with 17 settlements. One section of the road has also been flooded.
The consequences of the rain floods, caused by prolonged downpours, have been recorded in the village of Podgarnichny (Serovsky district), in the Baykalovsky, Turinsky, Slobodo-Turinsky, and Bisertsky districts, in the village of Nikolopavlovskoye (Suburban district near Nizhny Tagil), in Nizhnie Sergi, and in the village of Dolomitovy (the village of Bilimbay in the Pervouralsk district).
In Nizhnie Sergi, flooding of houses is being recorded. About 50 buildings are in the flood zone.
In Novouralsk, six bottlenecks have been identified: Sovetskaya Street, Stela, the former UAMZ, checkpoint 1, the bridge on Sverdlova, and the pedestrian bridge on Chkalova.
In the village of Podgarnichny in the Serovsky municipality, direct access to 11 private houses is temporarily restricted, but evacuation of residents is not required. There is a detour road through Krasnoturinsk.
Preventive evacuation of people to temporary accommodation points is currently only taking place in the village of Kirgishany in the Bisertsky municipal district, where the water level has risen in the Bisert pond. The dam gates will be raised to perform a controlled release of excess water.
The situation is under the control of the regional Ministry of Public Safety. Equipment has been mobilized. Round-the-clock monitoring has been organized at the hydraulic structures of the Middle Urals. Equipment is working to pass water, and blockage clearing is underway.
In case of worsening conditions, temporary accommodation points for people have been organized. To ensure the livelihoods in the settlements where communication is restricted, reserves of essential food products and medications have been created, and a permanent telephone connection is operational.
