In Yekaterinburg, August 1 will be celebrated on a large scale as City Day. More than 20 festive events have been prepared for residents and guests of the Ural capital — from concerts and sports competitions to exhibitions, festivals, and a traditional fireworks display.
Festive events will begin the day before. On the evening of July 31, at 7:00 PM, the Ural State Russian Orchestra will perform in the Historical Square.
The main program will start on August 1 at 12:00 PM with a ceremony of laying flowers at the monument to the founders of Yekaterinburg, Vasily Tatishchev and Wilhelm de Gennin, in Labor Square. Half an hour later, the official opening of City Day will take place in the Historical Square.
One of the brightest events will be the traditional "City Wedding," during which dozens of couples will register their marriage. Then guests can look forward to a festival of brass bands.
Throughout the day, the Historical Square will also host the excursion festival "Who Are We" and the public space "Citizens." In the evening, the final of the "Miss Yekaterinburg" contest will take place here, followed by a gala concert. The celebration will conclude at 10:30 PM with a festive fireworks display over the City Pond.
