In Pervouralsk, a drunk driver was detained after hitting a pedestrian and fleeing the scene of the accident, the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Sverdlovsk Region reported on Monday.
The accident occurred in the city of Pervouralsk at 09:01 on Sunday, July 19, near the house at 11/1 Chekistov Street.
At that time, an unidentified driver in an unidentified vehicle drove onto the sidewalk and hit a pedestrian, a 63-year-old woman, after which he fled the scene. The injured woman was hospitalized with injuries at the Pervouralsk city hospital.
During the course of operational-search activities, the perpetrator of the accident was detained. He turned out to be a 48-year-old local resident with 12 years of driving experience, driving a Daewoo Nexia.
While turning right towards Chekistov Street, he lost control. According to the results of the breathalyzer test conducted at the scene, the concentration of ethyl alcohol vapors in the exhaled air was 1.538 mg/l, which is 10 times higher than the permissible limit.
Previously, the man had been held administratively responsible for traffic violations once.
The police have initiated an investigation into the accident.
