In the Sverdlovsk region, a police officer saved a 13-year-old girl who was being pulled into a water discharge sluice near the village of Butka, reported the head of the press service of the regional Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Colonel Valery Gorelykh.
The police lieutenant (whose name is not disclosed) was at home on his day off when he heard children's screams coming from the local dam and rushed there. On the surface of the water, clinging to a metal structure of the hydraulic engineering facility, was a child - a 13-year-old girl, holding on with all her strength. The police officer, catching her with his hands, pulled the victim out.
As it turned out later, during a walk, the sandy bank collapsed under the teenager's feet, and she fell into the water. The strong current immediately began to pull her towards the discharge. "A relative ran to call for help from local kids, who drew the police officer's attention," noted Colonel Gorelykh.
The young resident of Yekaterinburg came to visit her grandmother with her mother and older sister. In the hot weather, they decided to relax by the local body of water.
The relatives of the minor thanked the police officer for saving the girl. The traffic police inspector himself stated that he does not see heroism in his actions.
