Convicted of double murder and sentenced to life imprisonment, Yekaterinburg resident Alexey Alexandrov, who was 35 years old in 2018, is held in the famous "Polar Owl" colony in the village of Kharp (Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug).

For shooting at the girls, Alexandrov used a modified pneumatic rifle. He managed to increase its power by 48 times. He perfected the weapon in his garage, where he also practiced shooting in a homemade shooting range.
Alexandrov shot each girl in the head at least three times using a night vision device. After committing the murders, he disassembled the gun in the garage and threw the barrel into the Iset River, while he disposed of the gloves he used for shooting.
It took investigators several months to determine the type of weapon. Alexandrov was tracked down through messages on a forum for pneumatic enthusiasts, where he actively inquired about rifle modifications. The remains of the rifle were never found.
The motive for the murder stemmed from a long-standing grievance against the world during his years of study at the vocational school. He had the idea that any other person could carry out "retribution" for the "damage" he had suffered. Alexandrov referred to the murder of an innocent person as "alienation" of damage. In total, he accumulated four such "damages."
