The village of Shaytansky Rudnik in the Nizhnesaldinsky district has disappeared from the map of Sverdlovsk Oblast.
The settlement of Shaitan Sky Mine in the Nizhnesaldinsky district disappeared from the map of Sverdlovsk Region today at 17:30.
Members of the Sverdlovsk Regional Duma abolished the settlement of Shaitan Sky Mine on the territory of Nizhny Saldy due to "loss of the signs of a populated area and lack of prospects for further development," as reported to "Ъ-Ural."
The initiative of the local council to eliminate the settlement was supported unanimously by all 44 deputies present at the session.
Residents left the settlement due to the cessation of limestone extraction at the local quarry, which exhausted its resources over 30 years ago, explained Nadya Shkredova, chairwoman of the Nizhny Saldy Duma. The settlement no longer has private property, public buildings, social infrastructure, or a polling station.
"Only a few pensioners remain; in summer, summer residents visited. By the end of 2024, only four citizens were registered there. Currently, there are no registered citizens," explained Nadya Shkredova.
After the liquidation of Shaitan Sky Mine, the municipality will consist of three settlements: Nizhny Saldy, and the villages of Medvedyevo and Akinfievo, the Duma speaker told "Ъ-Ural."
"Residents of Nizhny Tagil value Medvedyevo, buy houses to breathe fresh air, relax, pick berries and mushrooms, hunt. Akinfievo is more promising; if the road is extended from there to Alapaevsk, it will become a transit point, which means development," noted Nadya Shkredova.
