An elderly woman was killed in a hit-and-run near a bus stop in Yekaterinburg.

      An elderly woman was fatally hit by a car near a bus stop in Yekaterinburg today at 09:40. The circumstances of the woman's death beneath the wheels of a vehicle on Friday, August 1st, at the 7th kilometer of the Siberian Tract in Yekaterinburg are being established by the traffic police officers.

      According to preliminary information, the driver of a Hyundai Solaris, a man born in 1961, collided with a woman born in 1947 who was crossing the roadway at an unspecified location. The pedestrian died at the scene of the accident from injuries incompatible with life before an ambulance arrived.

      "The traffic police remind pedestrians of the importance of crossing the road only at designated places, having first ensured the safety of their actions. Drivers need to choose a speed that allows them to take measures to prevent accidents," the regional traffic safety department stated.
